Operation Share the Warmth

As we prepare for the changing of the seasons, and our thoughts turn to getting ready for fall and winter let us take time to remember those who may not have the necessary items to properly prepare for cooler temperatures.

Many of our Veterans who may be homeless or near homeless find themselves very ill-prepared for the winter days ahead.

Imagine a time and place where you chose to serve your country and stand for people you have never met. Then you come home only to find that life as you knew it is very different and you are just trying to get back to a "normal" life.

Many of the things we take for granted are not available to many of our veterans who struggle. Many regularly find themselves without even the basic necessities.

With that being said we are making a plea on behalf of those veterans for each of us to step up and "Share the Warmth". This program name comes from the first visit we made to a Veterans Assistance Program in Union Grove, where we were told that many who had been in the program and finished job training were getting sick and suffering because they had no warm coats, hats or gloves when trying to get to their new jobs.

Share the warmth is a program that is designed to ensure that our Veterans, and the Veterans Assistance Programs in the state, have the basics to help the Veterans on the road to recovery. We are accepting donations of the following new and / or VERY GENTLY USED AND CLEAN items:

Winter Boots Winter Coats Warm Socks Hats Gloves
Scarves Hand and Foot Warmers Fleece Wear Sweatshirts Thermal Underwear

Please remember that these items are going to those who have stood, fought and sacrificed for all of us and our donations should reflect our gratitude.

We need all donations to arrive by Sunday October 20th. We will be delivering on Saturday November 10th.

We will later post here, and on our Facebook site, the dates that we will be sorting donations and preparing for deliveries.

If you would rather make a cash donation we have volunteers that are more than happy to do the shopping for you. Working together we can make a difference! If so, please make all checks payable to Patriot Guard Riders and in the memo please indicate Operation Share the Warmth. Please send donations to: Patriot Guard Riders, 148 Kings Court, Dodgeville, WI 53533

Remember, you can also make donations through PayPal on the left side of the WI State web site. Please e-mail the State Captain at SCREMOVE@patriotguard-wiREMOVE.org when you make a donation, as PayPal does NOT notify us.
